Columbus Teen Counseling
Are you struggling with your middle schooler or high schooler? I offer teen counseling that is family-centric; I want to help your child to build a positive, loving relationship with you.
I appreciate the challenges for kids and their families and know how important it is to keep kids talking and connected as they do the hard work of growing up, separating and figuring out who they are.
I work with teenagers (and their families) who need help dealing with anxiety; depression; bullying; relationship problems; low self esteem; school struggles; behavior problems; parental attunement and connection; life challenges such as divorce, sibling rivalry, school changes. I help kids connect with appropriate community resources, too, because I understand that we all need allies as we grow our families.
I am particularly concerned that the kids I work with don’t leave counseling feeling like they’re “broken” or that seeing a counselor means that they’re the problem. I am strengths-based, which means I’m focused on what your child does well, how he or she can do more of it, and how they can make choices from the best, smartest part of their being.
I will keep you connected with your child’s counseling while still protecting his or her confidentiality.
“Adolescents are travelers, far from home with no native land, neither children nor adults. They are jet-setters who fly from one country to another with amazing speed. Sometimes they are four years old, an hour later they are twenty-five. They don’t really fit anywhere. There’s a yearning for place, a search for solid ground.”
